  • Services and Capabilities

     

    I thought you were just a training company; but, it seems like you do more. What else can you offer?

    Zerion was founded in 2005 primarily as a training company. Our experience converting over 500 locations to Eclipse has allowed us to evolve into an independent, full service alternative for consulting, training and customization.

    Do you consult on any other software packages?

    Zerion is foremost a business consulting company and our experience and knowledge can add value in any distribution environment. Our primary focus and system knowledge is in Epicor Eclipse; however, we have had previous experience in Infor SX.e, Intuit Quickbooks, SAP Business One, and phocas.

    Can you assist us on general IT set-up and support?

    Yes. We have a partnership that allows us to offer a full range of network and data management services, including network cabling, security, router and firewall, phone systems/VOIP, email and Internet.

    Is Zerion able to convert our server from IBM to Linux?

    Yes; but, we won’t. We have the capabilities and expertise in-house to orchestrate this conversion; however, we recommend that you use Eclipse for this service. Because we don’t own Eclipse and moving the software from one server to another can be risky, Eclipse should be involved.  They do a large number of these migrations and we have heard positive feedback about their capabilities in this area.

    Do you do programming?

    Yes. We do not make changes to the core program or what’s known as BP. We add UBPs and CBPs that any customer could create on their own if they know how to do it. We also provide integrations to third party sources, custom imports, custom programs, and forms changes.

    Do you sell hardware?

    Yes. Although hardware is not our core business, we’ve found that customers appreciate an additional, convenient and trustworthy resource for competitively priced equipment.

    What other programs do you integrate with?

    We’re willing to create an integration for any number of programs. We have standard integrations for Dynamex, Descartes and phocas. If you’re interested in having a custom integration developed, just contact us.

    Will you do fixed price jobs?

    Yes. Some of our work can be offered at a fixed price, such as cycle counting and purchasing. However, the time investment for many of our projects is dependent on a variety of customer variables; and, therefore, must be quoted. Contact us for a quote.

    Are you associated with Epicor?

    No, although we often find ourselves working side-by-side with them. We work hard to ensure they can do their job as they normally would, while remaining focused on our customers.

    What are the differences between Zerion’s approach and Eclipse’s?

    Zerion is a small business that is focused solely on service, while Eclipse is a large corporation focused on software sales and development, as well as service. As such, our company’s structure is different (not necessarily better or worse). Zerion’s goal is to offer Eclipse services in a timely manner, at a fair price and with frequent, direct communication.

    If I hire Zerion, do I still need a support agreement with Eclipse?

    Your support agreement with Eclipse is separate from what Zerion offers. Most of our customers come to us because they’re seeking something more than, or in addition to, what the software vendor offers. Zerion should be considered a value added service. As such, even if you contract us to provide support-type services, we still recommend you maintain your support agreement with Eclipse and rely on them in certain areas.

    If I have a support contract with Eclipse, why would I pay Zerion? Wouldn’t I be paying twice for the same work?

    The majority of requests that come to Zerion are things that would have to be quoted with Eclipse anyway.  All we ask is that you to give us the opportunity to compete with Eclipse. There are many customers who pay us to do things Eclipse could do under the umbrella of a support contract; however, they choose to work with us for a variety of reasons.

    How will the changes that you make to my system affect my support contract with Eclipse?

    Any changes Zerion makes are things that any employee of your business has the authority to make (if given the proper access). Any permissioned user can create new programs, add new programs and modify control files without impacting the support agreement with Eclipse.

Zerion’s goal is to offer Eclipse services in a timely manner, at a fair price and with frequent, direct communication.

    What is the first step in getting started with Zerion?

    We can get started in any capacity that you need us to and would provide a quote before getting engaged. Most customers choose a small project like a forms change or simple report for an initial engagement. This gives us the opportunity to earn your trust and demonstrate our capabilities. From there, they typically move to an EZ Support agreement. To formalize our relationship, and protect both parties, we have every customer sign a bi-directional nondisclosure agreement. We also request VPN access to your system.

    Do you come on site?

    Yes. We always try to be as cost conscious as possible for our customers. We generally find that custom programs, reports, forms changes, labels and new hire training can all be done well remotely. For anything beyond that, we find that, typically, it is more cost effective and mutually beneficial for us to come on site.

    What are your typical lead times?

    We have been told that we’re about 85% faster than the competition. In most cases, we can turn around a quote in one to two weeks. Our on-site schedule is usually four to six weeks out; and, web support and training are typically scheduled two weeks in advance.

    Why do you need to be a super user on our system?

    We don’t necessarily need to be a super user. Our level of access is completely dependent on the task at hand. If we have to program something or create a program, we would need super user access; however, if we’re just consulting, we don’t need super user access. We are willing to work within the parameters of your company structure as much as possible.

    Will you do fixed price jobs?

    Are you associated with Epicor?

    No, though we often find ourselves working side-by-side with them. We work hard to ensure Epicor can continue to do their job as they normally would, while remaining focused on our customers.

    Are you affiliated with the Eclipse Users Group?

    Yes. Zerion serves as the UFO’s preferred vendor for most of its training classes. Our consultants can often be found teaching Eclipse classes to users group members.

    Are you a member of IMARK, AD, or any other buying group?

    No. We’re not affiliated with any buying group because they require participants to have an offering for each one of their members. Since we are focused on Eclipse customers, we are not permitted to join a buying group. However, we attend many of the buying group shows in partnership with phocas.
