If you haven’t read the first part of this blog post, visit this link so you’re up to speed before reading this exciting Part 2. Fortunately, since Zerion has been around for quite a while now, we know that the only constant is change. And given our track record for not only adjusting to change but for ultimately becoming stronger through metamorphosis, it’s an exciting time to be a part of Zerion. Once again, we are working in tandem with our customers to implement big changes. The requests for work from our customers has been evolving in a big way over the past couple of years. While we still receive requests for labels, reports, training, and custom reports, we’re also getting deeper and deeper into what I have started calling integration work. We have so much integration work, it’s hard to keep it all straight. Integration work is extremely hard, time-consuming, full of headaches, and constantly changing. Of course, as with most in-demand work, everyone wants their integrations completed yesterday and with as little monetary commitment as possible. In 2008, I probably would have jumped at the opportunity to take the work and I may have overpromised and even lost money on this type of request. It was the whole cat-and-mouse conundrum, where I accepted those huge requests for work at very little gain to our team because I always felt like if we always had more work than we knew what to do with, then we had one of those “good problems.” However, in the past two years, it has become clear that the old way of doing business really wasn’t going to work out for us in the long-term. Zerion needed to transform into a different type of company. One that knew the value of our work and one that continued to provide great service to a customer-base that also understood that value. One of the reasons it became so clear to me that doing things the way we had always done them just wasn’t going to work any longer was because we’ve been joined by Justin Orton. He is honestly the most talented programmer I've ever known. (No shade to all the other amazing programmers reading this, of course!) Like the trailblazers before him, Justin once again changed Zerion’s capabilities. He brought to us a way to make changes, integrations, and tools that were deployable both better and faster. He figures out ways to make it take less time, but also make it better along the way. I've never seen anyone with that ability before; it has truly been amazing to witness. Late last year, we decided to start moving on all the changes we knew needed to occur. This involved moving toward 'Zerion Products' and also to start focusing our efforts on things that were good for us, and the consultants who work at Zerion, as well as to a broader customer-base. And so it is… Zerion is in the middle of another evolution right now. And honestly, I’m stoked! We have the best team in place that we ever have. The sheer volume of talent here is incredible. And we are building the foundation for what will continue to be an amazingly strong company with products that will provide next-level benefits to all our customers. For those who have been customers, friends, or partners for some time, you’ll start to see these changes being rolled out within the next few months. For instance, we look forward to sharing with you a revolutionary field service software package that Justin has been building out, which will bridge the gaps in your distribution chain and better connect you with customers. Additionally, as the number of integration requests continue to increase and the deadlines to hit become more compressed, Zerion will be implementing a rate increase for customer programming development work. From day one, Zerion’s goal has always been to provide uncompromising service at a great value. We remain committed to delivering outstanding innovation, superior quality, and exceptional service to our valued customers. We look forward to having you along for this exciting part of our ride!
